Would you classify this as cheating.?

i've had this on again off again relationship with my current boy friend since high school. he gets depressed then takes it out on me and we break up. we've been back together for two years now and when it started i told him that i was willing to have an open relationship while we worked things out. he told me that he didnt want that with me and that he never would. but i just found out that hes been "seeing" a girl he meet on pogo. i used quotations because she lives at least 8 hours away. i dont think he sees it as cheating and is always saying that im the only one for him ect. oh and we have a child together.
