How do you write a character's thoughts?

It does matter very much. When someone is thinking you either start a new sentence or put a comma and space and then italicize the words of which your character is thinking and then a full stop or space in rare cases and then take it off italics to carry on. Some people use a new font or leave a line however this is the proper way. Hope I helped, good luck! XD
